  1. You would get a more serious problem.  A fuse is designed to "blow" if the amount of current (electrical energy) going through it exceeds a certain amount.  This is a safety feature that prevents an electrical system from overheating and possibly catching fire, as well as to protect other parts of the system beyond the fuse.  A penny will not do this.   Yes, it will allow the current to flow through, but it will allow too much.


  2. This is a very dangerous act and should not be tried.

    Fuse wires are to protect your home or equipment and only the particular gauge wire should be used.

  3. Your house would likely burn.  Fuses are deliberately  made to blow and cut a circuit.  Pennies are not.

    The heat would continue to rise until the wire melted -- perhaps inside to wall -- breaking the circuit the way the fuse should have.

    Then dial 911.
