  1. It depends what sort of farming you are talking about. Crops like strawberries need to be picked by hand which is intensive, but for crops like wheat and maize  the amount of people needed to run a farm have decreased dramatically as tractors have become larger and much more powerful. Farms have generally got bigger too.

  2. Because its hard and complicated and often unsuccessful to automatize and computerize it. But for example if we talk about big  (umm, whats the name covered indoor hydroponic gardening) they are completely automatized and don't require any hard work, only picking.

  3. many of the large commercial farms that have upwards of ten thousand acres do every thing while sitting in a tractor or behind the wheel of a truck, augers or belts move everything. but the farms you probably see more often than not are smaller more family like farms. these people don't have the resources to buy a two hundred thousand dollar combine or hundred and fifty thousand dollar piece of equipment that does Every little part for them, so they're stuck stacking bales by hand or picking some crops by hand. trust me there's a piece of equipment to do just about everything some where, there's not always the money to buy it

  4. Because mechanization is capital intensive

  5. its hard and takes time
