  1. because they dont know the effect it will eventually have and they dont have much else to do


  2. Low economic development is usually linked to sn agricultural based society.  The famers have an incentive to have large families to help with the labor needed for farming.

  3. I think, the three main reasons are:

    1. Birth control is uncommon in poor areas as most methods will hardly be available.

    2. Children need to take care of their parents when they're old and can no longer work. Most of them won't have any financial resources.

    3. Child mortality rates are much higher than in industrialized countries. Therefore you need to "produce" enough children to make sure that there are enough left to take care of you later.
