  1. I would believe fat from animal's or dinosaurs or fish.  When a plant dies it dries up.  The last time one of my flowers died I didn't see a stream of oil go into a crack in the ground.  I think I saw a answer about olive oils earlier.   This could be true but most life will thrive where there is food to allow it so not much food is ever wasted in nature.  Although nothing would have happened here on earth if it weren't for the sun.

  2. exactly what the guy above said,

I'd recommend reading Thom Hartmans 'last hours of ancient sunrise'

    Fascinating and brilliant book

  3. Oil ultimately started, as all other fossil fuels did, as organic materials that derived their energy from the sun.  Oil, for example, is comprised of ancient marine plants and organisms that was compressed into pockets over millions of years.  If the sun had not provided these organisms with their original source of energy, there would be no oil reserves.

  4. I'd give Julie your best answer.  She nailed it.
