  1. The preferred hierarchy is:

    1. Reduce

    2. Reuse

    3. Recycle

Based on the energy and emissions that may be saved.

eg. 1. Reduce: to not use an aluminum can=saving

    2. Reuse: rather than buying another can, you just fill up your old one. (OK that is gross, but I didn't think about it before I started typing).

    3. Recycle: have your softdrink supplier melt your old can and reform it into a new one.

  2. recycling and reusing still consume resources where as source reduction just means getting by with using less altogether. It takes energy, time, and new materials to turn recycled products into something usable again. Even with reusing, your still going to spend time, energy, and usually some extra products recoditioning the reusable good.

  3. Easy:

    More for me.

  4. recycling requires the introduction of new materials and resources into re-using the resource.

Source reduction is just havesting less of the initial resource... it its all moot anyways.

You can't conserve resources and grow too.

  5. Going Green means in this order

    1 REDUCE

    2 REUSE

    3 RECYCLE

so the most important thing is to reduce the recources used.

Then reuse what we can and recycle the rest. Then you are truely GREEN

  6. Because recycling and reusing only help so much. Without reducing usage in the first place, the waste doesn't reduce as much as needed.

Recycling also uses resourses, so les usage = less to recycle.

  7. It's simple. Many humans are lazy and like living lavish lifes. Why would you want to do work which will only be of profit for later generation when you're already dead&gone.

  8. reduction is the packaging is smaller or thinner and sometimes reusable and not using as much product.

the biggest advantage of reduction is the power to produce the extra part that we are not using is not being spent. the next advantage is the extra is not going to the landfill, or is not being transported to the store. the ware house space is diminished for the reduction of size.

the chain of events that reduction has increases beyond just recycling.
