  1. Hi,

    Screening removes objects that could damage or block the components you've mentioned in your question.  It's basic waste management. You can't process wood, cloth, metal or plastic materials through the average waste treatment plant, and that's why screening is done.The components you've mentioned are not designed to handle solid waste.


  2. Those screens are really self-cleaning ones where the trash gets caught on a moving surface that drops it into a bin. In some waste applications hammer grinding mills (Muffin grinders) are used to pulverize anything that fits through the screen.

    In small pumping neighborhood stations the grinders are more economical and compact than a screen and are the only protection for the pumps..
