  1. this is because of the presence of hydrogen bonds between it's molecules. the polar nature of water makes it able to "come around" solutes and  dissolve them .

Since it is one of the most polar solvent> The negative pole is Oxygen, the positive hydrogen >So it can dissolve easily all polar molecules >Besides that water has an high dielectric constant which means that the attraction between ions is lowered by nearly 80 times allowing dissociation of ionic co;pounds, salts, acids , bases
