Why do you do this? It takes more time to back into the parking slot, than it does to back out. Besides,, you are holding up the traffic. Why?

  1. Because front wheels turn (sideways I mean) and back wheels don't so you are pivoting on a fixed axis

  2. Quick exit. Oh, and because I know how.

  3. u dont have 2 back into traffic

  4. Because the back wheels don't follow the front when they are altering angles. If you drive in front first, then as much as you get the front wheels close to the kerb thye rear wheels will still be far wider.

Basically, if you put the rear wheels in 1st, then since the front are not fixed you can adjust them to match the rear ones.

So when parking, you should line up the rears of both vehicles, check all round, and if it's clear, start to swing the car out to approx 45degrees before then turning the steering wheel in the opposite direction to swing the front of the car in until you are parallel.

  5. Because as I approached the spot, I have already surveyed around for any potentially moving vehicles and/or people walking around.  When leaving, there is always "someone" that is trying to jet past to the open spot 20 feet closer to the gym.

  6. I work as a fireman, and sometimes we are on call.  It makes it a lot easier to get out of a parking spot in a hurry and safely becuase you cann see the other cars driving down the lanes.  Even if I know it may take longer to back in, I don't know what hurry I could be in getting back out, and it has just become habit for me.

  7. I only do sometimes...if I pass a spot, thinking there is a closer one. Or all the other ones are backed in :) haha...it does however make it easier to get out.

  8. Maybe because I am good parker and I want to be able to drive away instead of backing out...you could drive around next time.

  9. well being as im a spy, i might need a quick pull out get-a-way

  10. So you don't have to back out.

One way traffic will be tied up, either coming or going.

  11. I have a crew cab 4X4 long bed truck.  It is so much easier to park in these tiny parking lot spaces if you back in.

  12. So I wont be backing out blind.

  13. Some police officers or EMT's  to do that so it's easier to leave quickly if they are called. I've noticed my brother (deputy sheriff) doing that from time to time if there's no other traffic...force of habit I guess.

  14. For a quick get-a-way!  Being a spy I often need to get out quickly.   ;-)

  15. Depends where I am...If I am going to pick my kids up from school, I would rather back into the parking place so I can drive out. I don't like backing up when there are children around. My truck has too many blind spots.
