Explainations for poverty continuing through generations? i.e Environmental poverty.?

need some inspiration for my final paper, its on Charles Murray and poverty. What impacts does the environment, uneven distribution of environmental impacts, ethnicity and racism have on poverty continuing through generations?

  1. Murray is a controversial figure.  Check out this article in the skeptic to get a feel for some of the more nuanced points of his book on the bell curve.

    We need to be open to scientific inquiry and willing to explore theories in good faith, based on the likelihood that they will bear useful information.  At times in our country we seem to want to close our minds to things that offend us, when in exploring them openly would give us the chance to change what is wrong in our assumptions and learn from it at the same time.

    I don't know what the merits of Murray's arguments and observations are, I haven't read enough of it yet.  But I do suspect that what people think of as IQ is probably different than what we are actually measuring.

    There are many forms of intelligence.  I doubt we even know how many there are yet, let alone how to effectively measure each one.
