Explained – Performance Review - 2012
After debuting in April 2012, Explained has managed to deliver some terrific results for his team and he will definitely look forward to participate in some major events in the coming years.
The five-year-old gelding first appeared in a race at Wincanton, where he was rated as the outright favourite to succeed with a starting price of 2 to 5. The competition was not a tough one for him, as there was only one other challenger up against him.
Therefore, the Irish challenger finished at the top of the table comfortably. He started off strongly and kept on increasing the momentum with the passage of time. His stamina was good, thus he gained an overall lead of 10 lengths until he crossed the finish
line.
Although, this performance would have boosted the confidence of the Tim Vaughan’s trainee, yet he needed to compete against some better runners in order to prove his worth to the world.
He was given that opportunity in the second race of his career, when several other runners were in contention of fighting for a victory. He was also given pretty decent odds, but was not expected to end up on top of the table.
However, Exit To Nowhere’s son proved his critics wrong and won by seven lengths in the end. He did not push hard at the start, as the distance to cover was a long one. This helped him preserve some energy for the ending moments of the race and he really
took the game away from his opponents.
After winning two back-to-back races, he would have been chasing a hat-trick of victories in the sport. There was immense pressure on him and the competition was once again not an easy one.
This time, the D. N. V. Churton & Mrs C. Wilson’s owned gelding failed to claim the top spot and had to settle for third place overall. He was unable to come anywhere closer to the top-two, which was a touch disappointing for his team.
However, Explained came back strongly in his very next race, winning it comfortably and followed that up with a fourth place finish at Aintree.
He might take part in a couple of events before the end of this year, but should now aim for some bigger events during the next season.
