  1. your answer is covered well in the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge

    see chapter: 6

    http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aviat...

  2. There are many instruments, and will require some time to explain them all.

If you post additional information about which, if not all, instruments you would like to be explained.

  3. I'm not sure about your question, it could take me pages to give you a very detailed information about each instrument in the skyhawk , are you a flight student, or is just a research? just google specifically what you are looking for cause I'm not sure if you want to know how to operate these instruments in-flight or  how they actualy work to give us informations in flight, just google it I'm sure you'll find something there.

  4. The configuration of instruments can vary from one individual aircraft to another, but for a 172, roughly, the round instruments are, from left to right and top to bottom:

    1. Time/temperature/voltage

    2. Airspeed (speed through the air)

    3. Attitude (pitch and roll information)

    4. Altimeter (altitude)

    5. VOR 1 (for navigation by VOR/ILS)

    6. Fuel

    7. Fuel flow and exhaust gas temperature

    8. Turn indicator

    9. Directional gyro (shows where you are going)

    10. Vertical speed indicator (shows how fast you're going up or down)

    11. VOR 2 (for navigation by VOR)

    12. Oil temperature and pressure

    13. Vacuum and electric levels

    14. Engine tachometer (shows how fast engine is running)

    15. ADF (for navigation by NDB)

  5. send me an IM, and find me a picture of a 172 panel, and ill help  explain it all to you.
