I am in my first trimester and my dad is having radiation treatment for cancer, can I be around him after his treatment?

  1. As long as he is receiving standard external beam radiation (likely) and not seeds/implants or infused radiopharmaceuticals, there should be no problems. Discuss with his radiation oncologist.

  2. Probably yes.  Ask him to check with his radiologist for after-care instructions and precautions.

    Radiation dissipates with time and distance. If he was treated with rays (and not implanted seeds or injections), then the radiation should basically be gone from his body  by the time he leaves the treatment facility.
