America is a multicultural society because it is the most culturly diverse country...no other country compares. True some people in the country are very racist but thats what you get with 300 million people and other countries have greater percentages of racists but do not recive critism. The country on a whole is always being critisised for not doing enough or being racist and stuff like that because they are the world power and have the most media coverage. Society nows days seem to think only western and "white" countries can be racist but this is not the case. Infact so many people of different countries are realy racist toward the states hating americans.

Multicultural means Multi (multiple, many, more than one) Cultural(Cultures, races, beliefes,customs). America fits this description perfectly.

Right-wing fundamentalists propagate their arm of influence over our politics, and atheists are pretty much crucified in public. The freedom of religion has really become more of a political correctness of religion, and a biased one at that.

We are a multicultural society, but we only like to take certain aspects of each culture and incorporate what we like into mainstream (white) American culture.  It's like we pepper our language with slang, but just a little bit to seem cool, but not all out like it's done in the ghetto.  We like a little rap, a little color, a little sushi, a little marsala, a little mariachi, but just  don't let the people who invented this stuff move next door, become my boss, go to my church or attend my children's school. It's like a multicultural hypocrisy.
