Question:

Expression Pedal or Volume Pedal?

Hello,

I've been playing guitar for a few years and I was thinking about getting an expression pedal or a volume pedal to go with my effects processor. I have a DigiTech RP150, and the pedal would allow me to make use of the wah and whammy effects. Basically what I'm wondering is what the difference is, if any, between an expression pedal or a volume pedal, and if I could use both with my DigiTech processor.

Thanks in advance.

  1. A volume pedal is just that, it controls the volume. An expression pedal can be assigned different tasks,as you have already stated. I know that DOD makes a volume/wha pedal that also has a mini jack that allows it to be used as an expression pedal. As long as the jacks match I'm sure either could be used with your Digitech unit.

  2. if I remember correctly, an expression pedal controls a 5 volt signal to the processor, and I know that a volume pedal is pretty much just a foot controlled volume pot.  but an exp. pedal will control effects and volume functions on most multi fx pedals, just depends on how you set up the fx
