I pulled my credit report from all 3 major credit agencies b/c i'm getting ready to purchase my first home. On my Experian Credit Report it list my SS # along with a "Spouse" SS #. I have never been married and never allowed anyone to use my credit, is there a way to find out who this "Spouse" is??? I've tried calling Experian but to avil am I able to get to a live person to find out what's going on.

  1. I don't think there is a way for you to find out directly from Experian.

    You can dispute the information in writing. Just tell Experian what you wrote here and tell them you want it removed because it is inaccurate information and a risk to your financial security. That should get rid of it.

    Or if you have reason to suspect that you have been victimized by identity theft, you can place a freeze on your credit report until you investigate this further.

    One thing to be cautious of is if there are unrecognized accounts on your report. You can contact the creditor/collection agency for the unrecognized account and see if they have any information on the mysterious SS#.
