Extension of Italian tourist visa?

My mom has arrived from India with a 75 day visa ( type C). Is it possible to get it extended? If so, can someone advise the procedure?

  1. Upon arrival in Italy, request at the Italian Immigration Office for the extension of the visa provided there is a valid purpose.


  2. Contact the local "ufficio stranieri" at the nearest Questura.
