I cut my extensor tendon in half, the one that controls my pinky.... i had surgery and the doctor said it was " a home run", but will i ever gain full range of motion, box again, etc... Only time and therapy can tell, i guess my question is,has anyone had this injury or similar, and if so, what was the end result, full range of movement back, etc..?????????

  1. What the doctor told you is more than likely true.  Though there are exceptions there will most likely be a loss of range of motion.  The tendon had to be placed together and in doing so it has become shortened.  So closure of the finger most likely will not be complete.  As for most activities there should be no problem.  Boxing after this type of injury is not advocated but telling someone something and what they do are often two different things.  Stay with the therapy and work hard at it and who knows you might be one of those rare ones that gets everything back.
