I had an exterminator come to our house today because I found several black widows around. I wouldn't normally be too concerned because I know the bites are rarely deadly, but Im 4 months pregnant, and while the bites wont do much to me-it could hurt my baby.

So he came out and laid granules and sprayed the interior and exterior around noon today. At about 830pm-i opened the front door and sure enough--one of the spiders was right there out in the open getting ready to make a new web. Does it take a little while for the pesticide to work or do I need to call and complain tomorrow morning?

The list of what was used was 1oz. Masterline Bif. 7.9, 11ml NyGuard IGR 10%, and 5lbs of Talstar Granules.

  1. you need to complain

whatever he put should have killed the spiders instantly!

  2. the amounts you list make no since for a home treatment for spiders...assuming "1oz. Masterline Bif. 7.9" is a liquid, he put two table spoons of product in and around your home.. then applied only 11 milligrams of nylar?   As you probably have noticed black widows are usually found off of the ground so placing a granule insecticide will not do much for them unless his thought is of reducing the food source, which won't be totally stopped.   Usually after any treatment , especially for spiders, time is needed to see results but not sure in your case.

  3. Telephone the exterminater....It is your right...leave it too long

it will be money down the "GURGLER"............
