External 3.5mm stereo audio input?

Question

I have a boss gt-8 guitar processor that I plug into the line-in on my desktop to record stuff now. I'm considering buying a laptop but many of them only come with a microphone input and I read that they have different impedence values and cannot be used as a line-in. I'm looking for the cheapest way to to get a 3.5mm stereo plug into my future laptop. Probably something with usb? Links would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You might consider an inexpensive "computer audio interface".  Some of them connect via USB:
