How can I play movies and music (that are separated into files) on my Playstation 3? I plugged it in and I figured that's all I would have to do but it didn't work.

  1. your problem isnt with the PS3, its the file stucture that the external drive is written in. the external drive need to be written in a FAT32 file system, once you do this your comp and PS3 both will be able to read your external drive.

here is a wonderful little programm that will help you to reformat your drive when your ready. it takes only a couple of minutes, really easy to do. but be aware you must save the files on your external drive to another place as the programm will completly erase everythingmon it.

It has EVERYTHING to do with the format, that is your problem, and not the file sturcture agent 47 speaks of. The PS3 will NOT read a external HD in any other format.

here you go says its compatable with the Mac OS. hope this helps you out!

  2. Put the media files in folders with the same names.

    e.g.

    Films go ina  folder called:

    VIDEO

    Music in

    MUSIC

    and images in:

    PHOTO

its nothing to do with the Format [FAT32/NAT]
