External Hard drive problem...Help!!!?

I have a 1TB External hard drive along with a 500 Gig seagate External HDD and I have a HUGE problem. Whenever I take one or the other and plug it into another computer to copy data it does it just fine on that computer, HOWEVER when i go to put it back on my computer or any other computer the data is not there!! For instance if i copy Songs to it from a labtop i have and then plug it back in to my desktop the music files are nowere to be seen on either hard drive. I have searched everywere about this and cannot find anything relating to the problem.

are you sure you are not cutting songs and pasting them on the hard drive rather than copying. If you cut them then they will be removed from the original hard drive and placed on the other. Thats just an idea
