my external hard disk isnt being recognised by the 4 port pcmcia cardbus which i have. the usb port on my dell inspiron 5160 laptop doesnt work so the cardbus is an alternative. it supports a pendrive but not the external hard disk which incidentally does work on any other system. would appreciate a solution. thanks. merle

I bought an "Extra Value 4-port Hi-speed USB2.0 Cardbus" which works fine with flash drives, but not with my Western Digital Passport External Hard Drive, which itself works fine, but very slowly, on the old USB1.1 ports on my laptop. When plugged in to the PCMCIA cardbus, the hard drive light comes on but it does not spin and it is not recognised by my computer. I have tried it with the extra power cord but with no difference. I.m not sure about the cardbus drivers, but I think they installed all right.
Any ideas?
