I have a Comcast digital cable box in my family room, but is it possible for me to purchase, or rent, an extra one to go in another room? If so, how much per month? Thanks!

Of course it is. Pricing varies from place to place, but I think it's about $10 a month. Call the 1800Comcast number to find out.
