Question:

Extra Credit for Summer Science Report- Cats

I am doing a research paper for extra credit. We have to observe an organism and research it. Then we write a little report.

Anyways I just need to know some quick facts on kittens or cats. I observed my 1 and a half year old kitten, if that makes a difference.

  1. Here are some websites to visit:

    http://cats.about.com/   and,

    http://www.terrific-cats.com/   and,

    http://cats.about.com/od/behaviortrainin...

These should help you find info. quickly.  I can tell you one very common thing in all cats is that they are very independent and only bother with you when they want to.  One day they may be all over you and the next, they decide to be completely aloof and ignore you.

They can also be very high strung and need to be pampered and treated like a princess, like my cat.  Twice, my cat was in a situation where someone brought their dog to my house and those two times, my cat then got a bad bladder infection and couldn't pee and had to go to the vet and then be hospitalized and medicated.  Vet said she's just very high strung and that stress caused this with her.  Now I have to buy her special dry food that only the vet sells, so that she can avoid these bladder infections again.  She's 18 now and hasn't had that happen for about 10 years so I guess it's working.

  2. The only quick fact I can give you is to do your own research...it's your project for extra credit.  Why not visit a shelter?  You'll learn quite a bit in a very short time.

    Good Luck!
