Extra ram in iMac Desktop?

Can you get a non authorised mac service person to install extra ram into the computer?

because they say it costs $150au for each gig!!!

I've installed Ram in my iMac and so there is no reason you can't also (if you find some directions on the internet and follow them closely).

If you don;t feel comfortable doing it, find a computer literate friend and ask for their help.
