Question:

Extra things besides major/pre-reqs to gain advantage into Pharmacy school?

I've volunteered in a pharmacy about a year ago over the whole summer. Would it be helpful for me to get some more volunteer hours or should I try something else? What other things besides volunteering will help my application?

  1. Honestly, you don't need to really volunteer all that much to gain acceptance to a pharm. school. A couple of things that may give you an edge up are; making good contacts now (for great recommendations), actually working in a pharmacy, and making  good grades in school (and on the P-CAT).

All in all though, you need contacts.... Now is the time to make friends in the medical field who may turn out to be valuable contacts for later.

    Good Luck!

  2. I'd say actually working in a real Pharmacy isn't bad at all. You're already learning a bit about the different drugs and hopefully there's someone there explaining you what some of these drugs do.
