The hormone, thyroxine is secreted by the thyroid gland, and has the formula: C15H17NO4I4. How many milligrams of Iodine can be extracted from 5.0 Grams of thyroxine?

  1. Find molecular mass of the molecule then divide 4 times the mass of iodine by the total weight to get the total percentage of the molecule that is Iodine. Multiply the percentage by 5g to get the answer.
