ok so im a supporter of the death penalty for murderers, and what really pisses me off is, when the united states asks for a murderer to be extradited from mexico, mexico will agree but will require the United states to sign a pact saying that we will not seek the death penalty for the murderer. my question is, what if we promised to not seek the death penalty, got the guy back her then just, sought it. i mean whats mexico gonna do?

  1. it's a bit more complicated than that. we would loose so much money from that. mexico would cut off trade. (NAFTA) so we'd have to spend more to get things from other countries. we can't afford to get into an argument with mexico

  2. Well, for one thing, they would NEVER agree to another extradition (nor would any other country who opposes capital punishment, for that matter).

  3. Mexico would have no legal recourse in the US Courts, but may be able to pursue some sort of redress in the World Court.  However, you could bet money that the next time Mexico has a wanted murderer in custody, they will refuse to extradite.

  4. My guess is, quit cooperating with extradition requests for ANY criminals.  Not saying I agree with the situation, but I understand why a prosecutor would settle for a life sentence for a murderer, rather than risk not being able to extradite robbers and rapists and drug dealers.
