Question:

Extreme Pain, Pressure and Sensitivity in molar...?

At the beginning of the week I had extreme throbbing on the top left side of my mouth. Since I'm 26 weeks pregnant, my dentist refuses to treat me. So my family doctor is treating it as an abscessed tooth and prescribed me amoxicillin and tylenol 3 on Wednesday. Unfortunately its not helping much. Now for the past 2 days I have developed this real extreme pain, pressure and sensitivity in the back molar. It feels like if I could bust off the bottom of the tooth I could relieve all the pain and pressure. So my question is what do you think is going on in there? There is no cavity visible to my eye or feel. But I have had problems before with abscessed teeth because of facial trauma. The pain is so unreal - I need to find a dentist that will treat me during pregnancy because I can't keep going on like this. Also, any suggestions on how to relieve the pain?

Thanks!

  1. I cannot believe that a dentist would not treat you as you are pregnant.

Where are you,  it wouldn't happen in the UK. If it did go to another dentist or phone NHS direct. It sounds like an abcess.

Can't say what to suggest if you are elsewhere. But where I worked we treated ladies right up till they gave birth.

    Good Luck
