Question:

Extreme upper abdominal pain when running?

Hi, I'm 14 and when I run after about a mile I get this extreme pain that makes me walk for a little bit until it subsides. The pain feels like its just below my right rib. Sometimes I take motrin about an hour before I run. I can still run but there is still pain. Why do I get this pain? It isn't like a regular cramp because I know what that feels like and I can easily run through it. Thanks.

  1. Hey im not sure im guseeing its a stich, you usually get them if your diet isnt health and not drinking enough water and also if you are taking really deep breaths through your mouth i heard that causes it too. Try breathing through your nose a little more. By the way lately ive been having the same thing as you except for me its only when i walk im not sure what the problem there is for me.

  2. that is kinda strange , you are not out of shape.  There is a nerve there, have you been doing some very strenous weight lifting or something? if not it could be your diet, maybe a soda before practice ( never drink pepsi!) , if not tell your coach, I would tell him tommorow, coaches are great source of advice.

  3. Are you talking about a side stitch?
