Extremely cheap wedding favors?

My best friend is getting married in 17 days. She is currently planning on just making a donation in everyones name as the favor but has recently decided that she wants to give everyone something else as well. I am looking for some extremely cheap ideas. She is having around 100 people and her budget is almost non existant. The wedding is outside in August. We would do some kind of candy but the chances of it melting is very high. Does anyone have any awesome ideas for extremely cheap favors. Were probably looking for $1.00 or less per each one.

Note: I dont need anyone telling me that the donations are enough and not to give anything else. I am just looking for some other suggestions.

Generally I would suggest a simple heart-shaped chocolate for each guest but I understand the melting problem! How about a type of candy that won't be affected by the heat- e.g. boiled candy in a little drawstring bag.

I'm personally not such a fan of non food or non donation favours as they just end up getting thrown out anyway but for some suggestions:

-a small candle for each guest

-a bookmark

Buy some of those pastel mints, shop around, you can get them cheap. Either buy tulle already cut into squares or circles, or buy a length at the fabric store and cut it yourself. Either use wrapping paper ribbon, or go to Walmart and get that skinny fabric ribbon that is on a spool for [last time  I bought it $.50 a spool. Put a couple spoonsful in the tulle, and tie it up with a skimpy bow. That's as cheap as it gets. Or even better gdt some paper souffle cups and fill them with mints, less trouble then the bows.

The other idea is to go to the Dollar store and buy some little candles. My friend found some scented ones with a paper lable over the top of it for a buck.

Cheapest, and nice too, is just putting some mints (you can get these little pastel colored ones, or just white) in a circle of tulle, tie closed with a piece of ribbon - and you can attach a slip of paper to where it's tied - with their names and the date.

Simple, and easy to make.

Candy!! Candy is always a hit with all ages. Wrap 5 or 6 Hersey Kisses in tulle. Tie with ribbon making wedding colors. You can even make cute  tags on your computer to attach to candy favors.

Why do you end each of your questions with "don't tell me."

Each of your questions pertains to "something extremely cheap," or "something cheap and elegant."  You/she can't have it both ways.  So the bride has a non-existent  budget....is already giving a donation to charity in-lieu-of favors....but still wants something else?  

OK...you or her go to Oriental Trading Company.  They have loads of little things that are cheap.  Most will be left on the table and/or thrown away once the guest is out the door....cookie cutters, candle holders, they have it all...and it's cheap.

Geez....if she has already done something nice (a donation to charity)....there is no need for more.

what about the bubble favors. They have the ones for weddings and they usually run about $9.00-10.00 for 24 of them and you can add a little card to it. They come in several different bottles. I've seen wedding cakes, champagne glasses, roses, hearts, and doves. Or if you don't want to do candy in pretty fabric you could do miniture cookies or cupcakes that's pretty cheap and cheaper if you bake them yourself. Good luck!!!

I once went to wedding and at each place  setting, there was a CD. they had burned tons of cute love songs that the couple loved and given them out to the guests. I really liked it because they were good songs and everyone needs a collection of romantic songs. You can buy a package of blank disks for very cheap and burn them yourself. Good luck!! :o)

Check out Oriental Trading dot com.  They sell all types of things like personalized labels you put on candles, bubble containers, gum, tins that you can put mints in, personalized pens, etc...

I know you "don't need" me telling you this, but she should seriously think about it.  At $1 or less, the chances are pretty high that everyone is just going to leave them there on the table.  Then, her money will be wasted.  A donation with a small card talking about it should be plenty.

most people won't notice favors missing.  also, cheap ones will just get thrown away.  we ended up going to a mintmaker who did cream cheese mints and we put plates of them on each table.  they were very cute and very delicious.  only $40 for 100 people.

What about pretty hand fans? Since it's an outdoor August wedding. The website others listed (Oriental Trading) should have them or other sites. If not try looking for something at 'Dollar Tree' stores.
