Question:

Extremely overprotective parents of 17 year old!?

I have a problem with my parents, and it's really starting to get to me. I'm 17, and entering my senior year of high school this september. I'm very responsible, I hold a part time job and pay for my own gas and car insurance, never been in an accident.

I don't drink or smoke (unlike the majority of people my age). I get very good grades, and am applying to college with a 3.5 GPA. I have a serious boyfriend of over 2 years and we have NEVER done anything to break my parents' trust of us. I'm always home when they tell me to be home; I can't remember the last time I was in trouble with them for ANYTHING.

My problem is, they are extremely overprotective and I am desperate for a degree of freedom. My curfew on weekdays? 9:00PM. Weekends, 11:00. This is ridiculous to me, the city curfew for under 18 is 11PM every night. My driving is extremely restricted, too.

In general, what is the appropriate curfew (and rules) you would consider for a 17 year old girl like me? I'm going CRAZY!

  2. Well their a little bit over protective with you on the curfew ! but hey think of it like this ...your 17 your getting prepared and you have a whooole life ahead of you, your parents do love you very much ! but as i see the thing that they dont want to let you go,why ? because your growing up. Dont worry girl once you 18 they cant do anything about it.you could walk out your door and they could even call the FBI and say "hey bring my child back in the house" you say"but im 18" and the FBI responsed "sorry ma'am but shes an adult okay ! ,so dont worry ALMOST THEIR baby girl =) good luck
