Question:

Extremely slow Windows Start-up?

Recently my computer has been starting up very slowly - 15 minutes plus. I noticed this after installing software for a creative zen mp4 player (which I wouldn't have thought would have caused the problem) and avast! anti-virus software. Could this have caused the problem? It started being slow immediately after restarting my pc after installing the Mp4 player software. What should I do about this problem? Please help!

  7. is your problem only during startup or is your computer slow all the time now?

the most likely cause of your problem is that you have too many programs running in the back and not enough memory.

if you want to disable some of the useless program from automaticlly running in the background do this: (for windows 98/2000/me/xp)

    click on the start button

    click on run

type in "msconfig" (without the quotation)

    click on the "startup" tab

now uncheck all the unessasary boxes, the only boxes that need to be checked are the antivirus and antispyware software.

after you are done click ok and restart your computer.

  8. install additional Random Access Memory (RAM)...

  9. try superantispyware - free and Glary utilities to clean things up
