I have had eye chalzons on my lower lid for sometime now. I recently went to the doctor and had them surgerically removed however they are back now. I went back to my doctor and they advised me to continue w/ the heat compresses. Anyone else suffer from these? Suggestions?

  1. Continue with the warm compresses. Sometimes they have some ointment that they give you for after the surgery that might be helpful. Chalazions happens becuase of a colgged glans. Unfortunatelly you just have to make sure that you keep you eyelids clean and continue to do the warm compresses.

Ask your doctor to show you how to scrub your lids.

[get a warm wash cloth (hot as you can stand it -not so hot it burns you) and wring it out. Wrap it around your finger and close your eyes. Do a gentle scrub/massage where your eyelashes grow in. Then look upward and do the lower lid. Do this twice a day as part of your routine. It serves two purposes. The heat and massaging action stimulates your oil glands to work as well as they can and loosens up any flaking/crusting along the eyelids]

    I hope this helps

  2. Warm compress/massage may help, but you have to do it every day.  If you get them chronically, you may benefit from a low dose tetracycline or doxycycline.  This helps keep the tendancy to inflammation at bay.  Talk to your doctor about this option.

  3. Just continue with the heat compresses. Do what the doctor says. He knows best.

  4. I don't suffer from them, but I would suggest going back to the doctor and asking him why this is happening. Just continue with the heat compresses until then.

    Good luck!
