  1. I had lasik 3 weeks ago and absolutely happy with it.  I went from -6.5 prescription to seeing without glasses.

When I decided to have it and was telling people, it seemed to me that everybody knows somebody who had it and everybody was really positive.

You can't really say about how long results last for.  One of the conditions is that your vision has been stable for some years but your eyes are always changing a little.  My boss said his wife had lasik 10 years ago and she is really happy with it.  He said just recently she started to need glasses again but only a very weak prescription and she doesn't have to wear them all the time, only when driving.

That said, it still is surgery.  Your eyes will hurt for a few hours after wards and your vision might be blurry off and on for a couple of weeks and your eyes probably will be dry for a few weeks.  But if you are interested, have a consultation and see if you are a candidate and what kind of money it would cost you.

I don't really know what you mean with regular surgery though, you mean guy cutting with a blade?  I can't imagine that is a better way.  Where does your mom get this info from?

As for results, the place I went to guaranteed 20/20 vision or my money back so that is pretty good for results.  They did say though that because I had a strong prescription that I might need a touch up to get 20/20 and that one would be free and if I still don't have 20/20 I get the money back for the whole thing.  I am pretty happy though and if I don't have 20/20 already, I am very close.  I see well enough for everything I have to do.

  2. Regular is a dude with a blade in his hand. Lasik is a precise machine controlled laser.

Lasik gives more consistent results, regular can be very hit or miss... all I can say is don't cheap out

  3. Id say neither one...go for orthokeratology (or orthoK  contacts)

theyre contacts you put in before u sleep and overnight they reshape your eye. take them out in the morning and you can see. so theres no risk like there is with surgery...too many problems with it still

  4. Lasik is very effective, but can be expensive.
