Eye Issues?

Hey everyone, last week I started having some pretty bad eye irritation (heavy dry feeling) it started to bug me pretty bad so I went to the eye doctor. I have glaucoma, so pressure was my first concern, well my opthalmologist checked my eyes and the eye pressure was fine. He said it was most likely allergies and gave me Pataday drops to use once a day. Since then I have still been having some trouble with my right eye, it always feels irritated and it's wierd because my left eye is the weak eye and when I take my glasses off it's almost as if my left eye is trying to be the strong eye even though it's not. I still feel pretty worried due to the irritation, wierd feeling in my right eye. Could the irritation in the right eye be from rubbing it too much? Also does anyone know if Pataday or other allergy eye drops can cause pupil dilation? Thanks

  1. Irritation caused by rubbing your eye... hmm... well how about you scratch the back of your hand really hard for ten minutes... does that hurt? YES! Believe it or not, your eye is sensitive! Rubbing it constantly for a week, there's going to be some irritation!

No brand of eye drops have anything to do with the amount of light entering the eye, and thus the pupil.

  2. Of course rubbing your eye causes irritation.  Stop rubbing your eye and continue the drops.  If your eye is still irritated after a few days, then go see your doctor again.  And yes, allergy eye drops can cause pupil dilation.  Double check the medicine information to see if it is a side effect for Pataday.
