Question:

Eye Laser Treatment----please help?

I have terrible eye sight (i'm really short sighted) qand i absolutely hate wearing glasses.

I would love more than anything to get my eyes lasered so that i can see "normally" (something i can't imagine!!! ). I want this done so much it's unbelievable!

The only problem is i have seen an spoken to people who have had this done and i was absolutely repulsed by seeing someone having their eyes held open with metal things while the surgery went on. As much as glasses-wearing makes me miserable, there is no way i would have my eyes clamped open (i won't even consider it as i am very squeamish and would scream the place down lol) and i wanted to know if it was possible to have this surgery while perhaps under anesthetic so that you are asleep during the surgery? And if this can't be done, why not?

Thanks x

  1. I had Lazar surgery. It's not as bad as you think.I was done in about 15 minutes. It took so long because of the doctor explaining what he was going to do to me.Then I sat in the waiting room for my ride(your not allowed to drive yourself)

The staff came over to me a few times to ask how my eyes were,if I hurt, could see ok,etc....I'm glad I had my surgery! No regrets here!I think you should talk to your eye doctor to see what s/he says about the anesthetic's your asking for.

I didn't feel anything during my surgery. All I saw was a bright light ,then I heard a slight noise then it was over.I was surprised how quick and easy it was.

    Good Luck

    Hope this helps    : )

  2. Hi, you should say all this to the eye specialist who is treating you and I am sure that he/she will be helpful.  Take courage and go for treatment.

  3. Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

  4. I'm not a 100% sure of this but I think you have to be awake becuase you need to look at a specific spot. If you are out your eyes roll backward or to were ever gravity pulls it due to no tonus in the eye muscles.

That is unfortunately the price you have to pay for not wearing glasses, that and dry-eyes, halo's around lights at nigth etc. All in all its great especially if you are very shortsighted and it can improve your vision even to just having to wer specs when driving and watching TV(at least then you can get up at night and not have to grab you specs just to get to the toilet).

It is a very short procedure and really not that bad.

Your other option is contact lenses and you get an extended wear contact lens that you can put in and wear for a month just taking it out over weekends to clean, you sleep with it on.

You must just decide how badly you dont want to wear specs.
