Question:

Eye Problem! Please help!?

I was inflating a tire, and it blew, and I think airborne dust particles striked my eyes, they are very red now. Should I be worried about anything? It's only been an hour since it happened, so will it go away? What are some things I can do to prevent any damage from happening?

  1. Obviously, the first thing would be to get it checked out.  Get to the ER and have them take a look.  In the meantime, you can go the pharmacy (maybe the pharmacist could take a look) and purchase eye drops called Refresh.  The drops wash out the eyes....gives a cool feeling and stops any burning.  Good luck...hope you're better.

  2. The best wayt to prevent any further dammage is to call your eye doctor immediately. You could have dust and dirt and rubber particles embedded in your corneas and you also might have a corneal abrasion. All this can lead to a nasty infrection or further injury just even from blinking. Please call them now, do not wait until tonight because if it gets worse you might have to call someone after hours in an emergency situation and you could have taken care of it better and cheaper by going in now!

  3. I would call the eye doctor now to see if you can be seen today.  If not, purchase some preservative free artificial tears and place them in your eyes every couple of hours today then go to an eye doctor tomorrow morning.
