When I was born and up to the age of about 30 my eyes were a very dark brown, but over the following years they have gone from dark brown to a sort of greenish grey colour, with very small patches of deep green,,

My question is is this common and does it have a name or some vision problems I might experience and does colour change in eyes carry on through other shades

  1. hiya

mm.......brown or blue or black or green or other

  2. My eyes were always a deep brown too, but the past few years (I'm 18), they've been changing and now they're almost entirely green, with only a hint of brown in the middle.

I don't think it's anything to worry about... there could be a variety of reasons it does this. Maybe exposure to sun, or maybe just a hereditary trait of some kind.

Either way, if you are worried about some sort of vision problem, that other person is right, the best thing to do would be to ask your eye doctor the next time you're there.

  3. Many peoples eye colour changes from birth through age! It is most likely to be nothing, however, if it concerns you or you are getting other symptoms such as headaches etc, ask your optition!

They will reassure you i'm sure!!!

  4. Eye colour often changes with age, usually they get lighter but it can also be caused by disease.

It would be worth getting your eyes checked, because opticians can spot many potential or existing diseases from the condition of your eyes.

  5. The best thing for you to do,is to ask this question to your eye Dr. the next time you go in for your check up. If you haven't been for one in a while, now might be a good time to go.

  6. I don't know if its common but I think it is absolutely normal. I started out with blue-grey eyes and now have bright green! Just as pigment in hair and skin fades as people get older so does the pigment in their eyes. Green seems to be where we're all heading.

  7. I assume you are not having problems now. This might sound stupid but have you ever lived abroad? I was wondering if constant sunlight can lighten the eyes.

Cataracts can change eye colour but you would be having problems with your vision in that case.

Apologies for this inane answer. Not had my 2nd cup of coffee yet.

Hope your Optician gives you the 'OK'.

  8. Same thing happened to my father...

He used to have dark brown eyes and when he was around 30 as well his eyes went to grey-ish green.

And,when i was little my eyes were dark brown and now theyre hazel.
