I have been wearing contacts for five years now and now I have a problem with them. It seems that my left eye is red and I put the rewetting eye drops to help my contacts but it doesn't seem to be working. I also splash some warm water in my eye hoping that will clear up the redness after I take the contact out but that doesn't help and this has been going on since last saturday. I just don't know what to do? I want to try and home remedies before I have to actually go see my eye doctor. what else can I do to help my eye? Could it be an infection from my contacts that I have? When I put my contacts in, My eye seems to feel it is burning when i Put the contact in my left eye. My left eye does not itch alot but sometimes it does. Please help me.

  1. The contacts may not be the cause of your condition but may exacerbate it!!

You may have an external infection or it may be internal with one of the symptoms manifesting itself as red or bloodshot eyes!!

For example!! I have seen lyme disease manifest a symptom of bloodshot eyes and a pimply rash sparsely errupting over part of the body!!

I am not saying that that is the problem but simply that an internal condition can create symptoms outside the body and especially in the eyes!!

  2. For sure its the contacts that are causing the infection off to the optometrists you go

  3. I seriously hope that for the past 5 years, you aint wearing the same contact lenses without changing.

How severe is the redness in the left eye after removing the contact lenses? Redness do occur after removal of lenses due to long hours of wearing. If the redness clears away after a few minutes, I would advise you to shorten your wearing hours.

If the redness is still present even after the next day, then it is advisable to cease lens wear for a week and at the same time, consult your optometrist.
