Question:

Eye exam drops?

I went to the eye doctor to have an examination. He said that if the new glasses did not work, to come back and put drops in my eyes. He said that the drops were to paralyze the muscles in my eyes so I couldn't focus. Is he referring to dilating my pupils? I'm just confused because he stated it so weirdly and he doesn't want to examine the inside of my eyes, just make it so I can't focus on the board of letters.

  1. yes

  2. Yes, it sounds like the dialating drops. Did he tell you to wear sunglasses when you left? Next time you see him, share with him that he should sharpen that chair-side manner as you were confused. Or tell his assistant. :)

  3. Yes...the drops will dilate your eyes, but they will also temporarily disable your focusing system.  This gives us a better, more accurate idea of your prescription, especially if you are far-sighted.
