Question:

Eye glasses?

Im posting this question again, adding a few details:

I need to wear glasses as a minimum, I cant see things far away, I'll basically have to wear for copying notes, driving, etc. My problem is that, while Im wearing my glasses, It actually makes my sight up close worse.

Basically, without glasses I can see very good up close, but far away everything is blurry. With glasses, I can see "fine" not perfect far, and upclose it becomes blurry.

Im not sure if this is right, are glasses supposed to improve both far/near sight? Or what mine do is normal? How do I cope with this?

These glasses are not like reading glasses you pick up at walmart, they are 200 dollar glasses. Im just asking if this is normal and is it okay to wear them this way or should I talk to the optics people?

  1. You should definitely have your prescription re-written.  Most stores will replace the lenses for free if the original prescription is wrong.  They will more than likely help you out.

  2. They didn't make the glasses right.  Sounds like you may be like me - nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other eye.  Take them back & have them redo them.  $200. for a job not done correctly is alot of money to give away.

  3. Do you happen to be getting on close to 40 years old ?

If so, then that is a normal problem...you are at the stage where bifocals would be needed.

If you are still a lot younger than that, then normally the eye can accomodate for the different focal distances...so your glasses may be a bit too strong.
