Question:

Eye irritation from contacts and what to do?

My friend has worn his contacts for too long and this morning it began to burn. He has prescription eye drops but they don't seem to be working. His eye is very watery and bloodshot. It is only his left eye that is bloodshot though, his other eye is perfectly fine. What should he do?

I was thinking of getting eye drops at the store, but I don't know which ones to get because he doesn't take pain easily. Thank you!

  1. Discontinue the use of the contact lenses.  Place preservative free artificial tears in the eye every two to three hours and if it's not better after a day, call the eye doctor.

  2. Take them out and let them soak in solution.

Let the eye irritation go down.

Use some new contacts if the old ones are overused.
