I've worn glass ever since 3rd grade, and I'm a young 55 year old now. I've tried lenses for distance, close, and the monocular. I'm near sited. I've heard some people go with both eyes the same biet for distance or close, and others go monocular. Any comments on the surgery, welcome! Thank you!

  1. I had Lasik surgery in April 2008.  the Doctor should do a very thourough screening to see if you are a good candidate for Lasik.  They do alot of testing to the cornea to make sure they are thick enough and that you don't have dry eye to begin with along with several other tests.  I am also nearsighted and had problems with my vision at night.  the procedure was easy, simple and painless.  I was done the procedure in about 15 minutes.  They use numbing drops in your eyes so you do not feel a thing.  You can tell that the doc is manipulating the eye but you dont feel anything while it is being done.  I am about 2 months out from surgery and the only complaint I have is why didn't i do it sooner.  I had some dry eye after which you can treat with drops.  you have to be very careful not to touch or rub the eye after for a few weeks, which can be hard but its well worth it.  I would suggest doing alot of research , make sure your Doctor is board certified and then go from there.  If you are a cnadidate it will be the best thing you ever did.  Good Luck!
