If you wear glasses, does it make your eye's grade more higher? or vice versa?

Both views circulate as popular myths:

If you wear glasses you'll only need stronger ones...

If you try to struggle on without glasses you'll only make your eyes worse...

Neither are generically true.

Most people get their first myopic Rx because their eyes have shifted *and still are shifting* short-sighted.

Not surprisingly a good number of first prescriptions thus go out of date fairly rapidly.

With amblyopia in young people, the failure to wear glasses can make this  worse for the future.  And there does appear to be a small minority where excessive accommodation (close focus effort) can accelerate myopic change (that's still being argued about!) and, there, wearing *distance* glasses for *closework* may be a bad idea.

But these are exceptions.
