Is it possible to get a lazy eye surgically corrected with little or no out of pocket expenses? One of my eyes is far sighted, the other near sighted.. they don't focus properly at all anymore.for example when i'm driving one eye is "dominant" the other turns out. I wear corrective glasses and have had surgery in the past, both laser surgery to correct my vision and surgery to correct a turned in eye at 2 years of age, which they overcorrected.

People never know when I am looking at them and it's also giving me headaches. I am worried that one day it will impair my ability to drive all together.

  1. Do you have private health insurance? If so then you probably can have fairly low cost surgery to achieve a cosmetic (but probably not functional) improvement. It may be possible to have it done through the public system, but I suspect this surgery is not available publicly for adults as the results are really only cosmetic. You would need to talk to an ophthalmologist who specialises in this - ask your optometrist for a referral.
