For weeks my right eye has been getting extremly blood shot for no apparent reason. When it first happen I quit wearing my contacts for a week and it cleared up, but the day I put them back in my eye got even worse than before. I Quit wearing my contacts again for a week this time putting this steroid drops in everyday, and my eye finally cleared up. Yesterday I decided to wear my contacts again and my eye because blood shot again. I'm almost positive this isn't pink eye,but I really don't know what to do! I'm from west texas and it has been very dry here, but I've always lived in west texas and it has never bothered me that bad. I've always been very good about taking care of my eyes and I'm tired of wearing my glasses everyday I really just want to be able to wear my contacts again. Any suggestions

  1. Hi!  I feel your pain.  The same thing happened to me.  I had a really bad habit of sleeping in my contacts and I developed an eye ulcer.  My eye was very red and painful and if I didn't wear my contacts, it would clear up but get upset again the minute that a contact touched my eye!  The eye doctor gave me some antibiotic and steroid drops to help it go down.  I had to be without contacts for two straight weeks and afterwards I haven't had any problems.  it's been 3 years now.  Hopefully you don't have an ulcer, but it might be worth looking into with your eye doctor.  Good luck.

  2. I'm not convinced it's allergic as that would generally happen in both eyes. Same for solution contamination.  Is it the same lens you're putting in every time or a fresh one?  If the same one, try a new one once your eye has cleared.  If the problem persists, the fit of the lens may be the problem or you may be reaching critical mass with respect to dryness in that eye. In either case you need to be evaluated by your eye doctor.

  3. Sounds like an allergic reaction, did you try changing solutions? If nothing helps, I would see your eye doctor to see if he could give you any drops to help clear that up.
