For weeks my right eye has been getting extremly blood shot for no apparent reason. When it first happen I quit wearing my contacts for a week and it cleared up, but the day I put them back in my eye got even worse than before. I Quit wearing my contacts again for a week this time putting this steroid drops in everyday, and my eye finally cleared up. Yesterday I decided to wear my contacts again and my eye because blood shot again. I'm almost positive this isn't pink eye,but I really don't know what to do! I'm from west texas and it has been very dry here, but I've always lived in west texas and it has never bothered me that bad. I've always been very good about taking care of my eyes and I'm tired of wearing my glasses everyday I really just want to be able to wear my contacts again. Any suggestions

  1. I'm not an eye doctor, but I did have lots of trouble with my eyes.  Just fyi, steroid drops seem like miracles =) they'll clear everything up.  Unfortunately, this doesn't mean your problem went away, the steroid drops just covered it up.

If it's just your right eye, chances are it isn't an allergy to the contacts.  However, if you can't come up with any other solutions, it definitely wouldn't hurt to see an allergist just to check.  Before you go doing that though, see an opthometrist.  This isn't an optomologist - the person who normally does your eye exam.  An opthometrist generally has had more experience with different eye problems, and may be able to identify things that your optomolotist could miss.

Just a random guess, this could be blepharitis, which is basically an irritation of your eye and can be caused by a couple of different things.  But like I said, I'm no eye doctor =)

Make an appointment with an opthamologist, and in the meantime, wash your (closed) eyes with baby shampoo as a nice, safe way to keep them as clean as you can, and maybe try some moistening drops, like Genteal.  Don't use Visine, this can make your problem worse.  I know how you feel, I hate not being able to wear my contacts.  Don't give up! And don't be satisfied until someone finds a solution for you =) Good luck!
