Question:

Eyeglasses for night a blur?

I've never worn eyeglasses for night vision until now. the first time I wore them at night while driving, any light I looked at projects a kind of prism/star shape. My glasses came with an antiglare coating. Has anyone ever had this problem? My Opt didn't know why I have this problem. The prism is only there when I wear them not when I don't. thanks

  1. I had a patient with that same problem a couple of months ago.

My lab said it was a defect in the hydrophobic coating that was making the AR do that.

They remade the lenses with a new coating and the problem was gone.

  2. sometimes this happens due to smears and smudges on your lenses.  With the AR coating, it is very bothersome.  Make sure you clean your lenses thoroughly before you go for a drive at night.
