  1. My mam uses boiled water that has slightly cooled . And washes her eyes twice a day . She doesn't put anything in it. Good luck .

  2. There are sterile salt solutions you can buy. Some can include an antibiotic to cure the infecton.

Soap or shampoo will irritate your eye, do not use them..

  3. It's best to use warm water as hot as you can comfortably bear. You can add salt to it if you wish to however this is more likely just to make it sting. The medicinal effect of the salt on the infection is barely noticeable. Don't use shampoo as this will cause the natural antimicrobial secretions in the eye not to work and the infection would spread and give you conjuctivitis which you really don't want.

  4. The best home remedy to try for a suspected eye infection is hot water, no salt, on a clean wash cloth.  Get the temperature as hot as you can stand it.  Soak the cloth in the hot water and place over the closed, affected eye(s) for 5 to 7 minutes three times per day.

If this does not improve the symptoms within 48 hours, seek medical attention.  Some infections are quite virulent and can cause permanent scarring to the corneas.

The moist heat  only serves to increase circulation to the eyes in an effort to stimulate your own immune system to fight the infection.

  5. Dissolve 1 level teaspoon of salt in 1 pint of boiled water

Allow to cool and using an egg cup if you don't have an eye-bath,fill it with this solution and hold it up to your eye, leaning forward with your eye open and blink in the solution.

Do this several times a day.
